David Gray (CK): The Key to Innovation for Sustainable Business Success

“We consider innovation as key, and we always innovate by bringing new products and solutions to our customers,” explains David Gray, General Manager at CK. He clarifies the company’s goals for the coming years and elaborates on solutions to challenges. Interview.

Can you describe your company in a few words?

Charles Kieffer started with photography activities 75 years ago, progressing to imaging and printing. Now CK works with document management. CK became an expert in digital transformation, enhancing work experience and well-being. We focus on two main activities represented by two departments called “Office Technologies” and “Sport&Fitness.” The first provides products, solutions and services for customers’ digital evolution, work experiences, and efficiency improvement. The second delivers racket sports, fitness and well-being activities, as well as advice, sharing of experience and detailed programs from our professional coaches.

“We have concluded partnerships with tech companies, introducing innovations like artificial intelligence or interactive touchless screens”

What part innovation takes in your activities?

We consider innovation key and always innovate by bringing new products and solutions to our customers. For example, in 2021, we set up an Innovation Committee to define our future activities and where we should invest. As a result, we have already defined new trends and solutions and launched new offers in early 2022. We have concluded partnerships with tech companies, introducing innovations like artificial intelligence or interactive touchless screens. In addition, for Sport&Fitness, we use equipment with trackers to monitor effort, offer exercises adapted to specific needs and we share coaching information through an App.

What are the main challenges your company is facing?

In Office Technologies we aim to become a sustainable leader by offering the best of breed technologies for the management of the modern office environment, in Luxembourg and beyond. We plan to develop office environments to enable people and organizations to improve efficiency, profitability and sustainability. We want to grow our market share using our current offers and new activities. We recently introduced many novelties, focusing on Luxembourg and elsewhere. We are also encouraging new activities with Sports&Fitness as we did by investing in new Padel courts in Kockelscheuer. Finally, we will combine physical and digital options in our offers when considering our customers’ requirements regarding sports consumption.

How do you see your company evolving in the next five years?

First, we don't use an aggressive approach. Indeed, we don't want to double our revenue or our margins. However, we need to anticipate trends and create new solutions as we reach the mature phase for some activities. So, in five years we will turn into a responsible leader in our markets. We will keep our teams and evolve together while paving the way with our clients towards a sustainable future.
